I like a fresh start. New blogs, new journals, new computers, new jobs, new homes. So, here’s the new home for my personal blog.
I guess I don’t really have a niche for this blog. It’s likely going to be a combination of different bits of my life. I suppose I’ve never really had a direction when I create blogs, hence the chaos. The squirrel attached to this post is very representative of how my mind works. I took that picture when my dog actually chilled out enough for me to walk up to the tree. I do not know how or why it happened. Usually he’d lose his mind running toward it and barking. He also thinks he will catch birds. He likes to watch the ducks on the pond behind my apartment. My dog is secretly a cat.
My intention with starting this blog in a new setting was to give myself something of a “reset,” if you will. So I created this space, put up a layout, ...and promptly ignored it. I suppose I’ve never really been good with keeping up with the blogging. On the other hand, I’m a teacher, and this school year is far from ordinary. I’m teaching remotely, something I never imagined myself doing, and we’re going to be doing this for a little while longer. It’s very different from teaching in person and has several more responsibilities that I didn’t have prior to this experience.
That’s not to say I want to constantly blog about the situation. I’d rather focus on things I can do to keep myself relaxed at home and think about self care. I actually caught up on work this weekend, and now I don’t have anything immediate I need to do for tomorrow. It’s a very odd feeling. Like right now writing this is usually when I pack my lunch for the next day, but because of an appointment tomorrow, I’ll be home for lunch. So my hope for this space is to be a sort of escape, as much as it can be. I may rant or complain about things, but I don’t want to dwell solely on frustrations. For the most part, I hope to focus on hobbies and things like that, and we’ll see if my efforts pay off this time.
